In March 1925, it was renamed the Shanxi Public Library, and in 1933, it became the Shanxi Provincial People's Education Institute. In 1949, it was renamed the Shanxi Library Museum. In 1957, the Shanxi Library Preparatory Office was established, officially separating from the museum and becoming an independent entity. The Shanxi Library officially opened to the public in August 1960.Share

It has 22 institutional departments and 237 staff members. The library's collection totals 3.74 million volumes (items), including 300,000 volumes of ancient books, and its digital resources amount to 104.66 TB.
